Some days life is a ... Beach

Ah this is the life...
Greetings from under a palapa in Kamari. Abeach village on the east side of Santorini. The water is a beautiful blue and crashes on the black sand

beach. The beach is in the shadows of a huge mountain - likely some of the remnants of long ago volcanic activity.
You walk for ages along the strand with hotels, cafes and shops on one side and cafes al fresco and the beach on the other.

Getting there is half the fun

Went to Kamari today. Took the bus...that was an experience on it's own. Picked up the bus close to the hotel. It was packed full of other beach folk and tourists arriving for their holiday.
Where else do you get to ride in a big coach on narrow roads, hearing a host of languages and listen to Greek music on the sound system?

Cruising to Crete

What a great way to see some of the Greek islands.
Took the ferry from Mykonos - actually a high speed hovercraft.
Then on to Paros.
On to Ios.  This is a well developed, but less accessible island than others - in other words you need to take a boat.
In to Santorini...which looks amazing.
Finally on to Crete.  It was five hours of sailing.  A chance to relax.  A chance to see some islands.  Not bad!
